Our travel east from Paris to Verdun and the Argonne forest was through Reims. Before the return train, we quickly visited the cathedral. Restoration work continues on the west front — and, coincidentally, to a portion of the nearby Carnegie library.
The cathedral sustained heavy damag during World War 1.
