With thousands of other Parisians, we went to the river on Saturday to take a “as seen with our own eyes” survey of the flood. As I write this, we are happily seeing the sun for the first time in a week. More grey and rain is on the way but for the moment we will enjoy these few breaks in the clouds — and, in good jest, complain about the heat of the sun on our faces and the glare in our eyes.
The Pont des Arts, cleared of “love locks”, appears in the middle ground. A pedestrian bridge, it was closed with the rising river. I first tweaked this image to bring in some contrast and color only to then change my mind — I decided to accentuate the grey.
The Seine might be flooding but the Louvre still needs to pay the bills.
After dropping the child on school days, I walk back home and cross the river. It will be interesting to see what appears as the river drops.
