100 years

Watching the emotional ceremony marking the end of WWI this morning, it was hard, even with our dry vantage point overseeing the Arc de Triomphe, to keep a dry eye.  As with every 11 November, there’s a good deal of interesting reading to do — learning the battle of Belleau Wood and beyond, including another fine piece in The Washington Post, A Marine’s mysterious death in World War I’s final days still haunts his family.

A war of vast carnage, the territory and impact is claustrophobic.

With that I share again 2 posts from our own trip for WWI remembrances, The great war and Meuse-Argonne.
