Saint-Luc, Switzerland | 2017 winter vacation

It’s our 7th “ski vacation” and, for the first time, we returned to the same valley. Having gone to Zinal in 2014, we returned to the Val d’Anniviers in Switzerland, this time in the town of Saint-Luc.

From Sierre, Saint-Luc is not as far up the valley (south, in this case) but it is as high as Zinal in elevation due to its location on the mountain face. At the upper reach of the valley is a glacier and, if you continue south, the Matterhorn.

The valley is wider here and yields more expansive views. And while I prefer the town of Zinal — it sits on flatter land — Saint-Luc includes a larger network of walking trails. The same can be said for the pistes, although I can judge those only by reading a map and hearing reports from people who actually use them.

The images here are from snowboard lessons, walks, and a visit to the neighboring town of Chandolin.
